About

My name is Matt and I created this website to share a method for using playlists to deepen your connection with music.

Before I began working on this project, I’d largely written off new music. All I could hear was how bad it had gotten in recent years. I was dismissive of entire genres like pop, hip-hop and country, and I found it nearly impossible to find anything new to listen to.

I began using playlists as a way to evolve my own preferences so that I was capable of enjoying music beyond what I was used to listening to. Over the next couple years, my ability to appreciate new music blossomed and I was able to go deep into genres I’d never considered.

The curation method is laid out on this website. I call it Expressive Playlisting, and it involves transforming your musical preferences by creating your own genres as a listener. I also include some of my own playlists to illustrate these practices, while at the same time making it easier for listeners with taste like mine to discover new music they enjoy.
